Heavy squeezing phenomena required - among other measures - the use of ductile support elements. Thus deformations of the surrounding rock mass were enabled while stability of the shotcrete lining was maintained.
The refurbishment of the 1st tube includes the construction of cross passages and new niches as well as the renovation of the ventilation system. These measures lead to a much higher level of safety for road users and rescue forces.
