Due to permanent rising of volume of traffic the construction of the 2nd tube of the Tauern tunnel has become necessary to provide a higher level of safety for road-users.
Since completion traffic is being led through the newly built 2nd tube, while the 1st tube is being refurbished and the crosscuts are driven through.
