Swelling rock often poses severe problems to design and construction of underground structures. Simple approaches to the modelling of swelling behaviour as still widely used today do not meet the requirements of safe, economical design.
IGT has been mastering the challenge of swelling ground in various projects. Based on our ever-growing expertise we developed methods to simulate swelling behaviour in comprehensive continuum mechanical analyses.
